Label design for Misanthrope Brewing Co. Can features a bright orange base layer textured with an array of small detailed illustrations representing misanthrope items and products. Main character featured on front of can is misanthropist. A character design of an older gentleman titled “Sick Day.” The character featured on the can, can be seen as uninterested or bored, frustrated or even impatient. The character design is to humor the consumer and to relate to them on a more personal level rather than a corporate level. Second label design for Misanthrope Brewing Co. Second can features a green base layer decorated with the same illustrative texture as the previous can. However the green can character is titled “Haywire”. This character represents those fed up with society and or their community. The character prefers to stay up alone all night to get some peace and quiet. His face features ressemble somehow who lacks a proper sleep schedule, once again relating to those consumers who may be feeling the same Bcklot (Back-lot) magazine cover. Magazine cover includes centered black and white image of graffiti on the side of home. Bordered in a thick white margin with “Bcklot” logo at top left above image and issue number on bottom right below image. The graffiti on the side of the house illustrates two persons of native heritage and culture wearing headdresses accompanied by cultural symbols and paintings. Image is shot through a wired fence which is visible in the foreground of the image, however out of focus. The image here depicts an open spread of “Bcklot” magazine. The left page titled “The War on Graffiti”, is in a clean bold, black sans serif font, introducing the article. Body copy begins after the heading onto the right page, seen next to an illustrated wall oif weaponry. The weapons are located on the right half of the page facing downward in a neat fashion. Weapons symbolize the stigma around “vandalism” and “graffiti” as well as the contrast of opinions on the subject. Cover of personal photo book. The cover image is that of a setting sunset behind a long line of telephone pole silhouettes. The image is layered behind a gritty, old texture. Within the bottom ¼ of the cover reads the title of the book, “Beginners Luck”. Below that reads “photo collection by Alvin Fardy.” Image is bordered by a thick white stroke. The image shows an open spread of Alvin’s photo book. The left page features a long exposure shot split into three sections horizontally and centered on the page. The image has captured bright, colourful stripes of light glowing from a neon bar sign. The right page of the spread has a base layer colour of brown/red. The top layer has left justified text centred on the page recalling details of Alvin’s connection to the photo and the story behind it. Above the image justified left and aligned with the body cop is a header in a larger and slightly bolded font reading “Waterloo” to indicate the image location.
